Your identity preserves you. History has shown us that for any group of people to be subjugated by others, the identity of those to be subjugated is always the point of first attack. You attack the language, the culture, the values and beliefs system of the people you want to subjugate. Your identity makes you to be conscious of your environment. And this is a very good thing. Once you are conscious of your environment, the fairness or seemingly unfairness that governs your environment, it becomes rather easy for you to develop tactics that enable you to overcome the obstacles placed in your path in your environment.
